With the State Government currently considering reform of the Environment Effects Statement process, EDO this week co-hosted a roundtable discussion attended by around 40 experts in environmental impact assessment (EIA), including consultants, technical experts, lawyers, barristers and planners. The discussion focused on the downfalls of the current system and what should be the focus of urgent reform.

The State Government must respond to the Environment and Natural Resources Committee Inquiry recommendations into the operation of the environmental effects statement process within six months of their release, which was on 1 September 2011.
